Landscapes
Depictions of Azerbaijani nature and landscape.
The landscapes are given over to the nature of Azerbaijan — rivers, woods, hills and the edges of villages. All of them are oil on canvas.
The section covers several seasons: a spring river with dandelions in flower, a path through an autumn wood, a birch grove, and a river with a small waterfall at sunset. Water is often placed at the centre of the composition, because it throws the light of the sky back and opens depth into the picture.
In a few of the paintings a small human figure appears far down the path. That is not incidental: the figure gives the landscape its scale and draws the eye into the scene.
A landscape of the village you come from, or of a place that matters to you, can be commissioned — your own photograph is enough to work from.
