I take commissions for oil and pencil portraits from photographs, as well as landscapes, still lifes and multi-figure compositions.
I am Ramil Ahmadov, a painter born in Şərur in Nakhchivan. I have painted more than 300 works, shown across 27 exhibitions — 6 solo and 21 group.
Every commissioned work is made by hand: not a print, but an original in oil on canvas or graphite pencil on paper. Because of that each commission is agreed individually — size, medium and subject are chosen to suit you.
The most frequent request is a portrait from a photograph: one good-quality photo is enough. Portraits are often commissioned as gifts for a birthday, a wedding or an anniversary.

Graphite pencil on paper
A black-and-white portrait worked in graphite pencil on paper. The Bakhtiyar Vahabzade, Heydar Aliyev and Ramil Safarov portraits in the gallery are drawn in this technique.
Family and children's portraits
Oil or pencil
Several people in a single composition. People photographed separately can also be brought together into one portrait — let's discuss that in advance.
Landscape
Oil on canvas
Azerbaijani nature, the village you come from, river and forest scenes. Worked either from your own photograph or from a subject we choose together.
Still life
Oil on canvas
Studies of light and shade in fruit, flowers and everyday objects. The palette can be chosen to suit an interior — a living room or a kitchen.
Thematic composition
Oil on canvas
Narrative, multi-figure works — scenes of national life, historical and symbolic subjects. "Baking Bread" in the gallery is one such work.
How a commission works
Message me with the photo
Message me on WhatsApp and send the photograph you would like painted. The clearer the photo, the more accurate the portrait.
We choose size and medium
Oil or pencil, what size, how many people — we settle this together. Price and timescale are agreed at this stage too.
Work begins
I send photographs as the work progresses, so you can see how it is going and we can adjust if needed.
Handover
I hand over the finished work. Delivery to other cities in Azerbaijan or abroad is arranged in advance.

Frequently asked questions
- Do you paint portraits from photographs?
- Yes. Most commissions are worked from a photograph. One clear photo is enough, though sending a few helps me read the features accurately.
- Which media do you work in?
- Oil on canvas and graphite pencil on paper. The landscapes and still lifes in the gallery are in oil; several of the portraits are drawn in pencil.
- How much does a portrait cost?
- The price depends on size, medium and how many people are in the portrait, so there is no single figure. Message me on WhatsApp with the photo and I will quote exactly.
- How long does it take?
- That depends on the size and complexity of the work. I give a firm date when I accept the commission — if it is for a gift, tell me the date in advance.
- How many people can be in one portrait?
- Several — family portraits are made this way. It also works if the people are in separate photographs; they can be brought together into one composition.
- Can I buy an existing work?
- Yes. Some of the works in the gallery are available. Open the page of the work you like and use "Enquire about this work" to ask whether it is still available.
- Does a painting work as a gift?
- A portrait is most often commissioned as a gift — for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and memorials. Tell me the date in advance so it is ready in time.
- Can you send work outside Azerbaijan?
- Delivery is arranged per commission — tell me where it needs to go and we will work out the best way together.
